Latina Leadership Initiative

2025 Leadership Program application is now open

About the Leadership Program

The leadership program is a five-month program designed to build the skills, knowledge and confidence to support Latina leaders in their personal and professional advancement. Participants will collaborate with local non-profit organizations to work on a community service project, resulting in local or/and national impact.

The Latina Leadership Initiative curriculum promotes heightened awareness of social responsibility and attention to the needs of the local Latino/a/x community, and is based on the principle that the development of young Latina leaders enhances our entire community. The curriculum addresses various topics in regards to women’s empowerment and leadership development. This, along with the help of the program mentors, creates an all-encompassing experience that allows participants to see exactly how each topic affects them, and how their talents can, in turn, affect change in those areas.

Upon acceptance into the program, participant will be invited to join our welcoming social in December. This event offers an excellent opportunity to meet and network with both current participants and alumni of LLI.

Attendance Policy:

Active participation is vital to creating a rewarding experience for all participants. To ensure everyone benefits from the program, adherence to the attendance policy is required. A schedule will be provided in advance so participants can plan ahead and make the most of each session.

Attendance at every LLI leadership program session is important, and participants are expected to be on time and fully engaged. While all sessions should be attended, it is understood that unexpected situations may arise. Participants are allowed up to two excused absences. In such cases, the Executive Director should be informed via email at least 24 hours before the session.

Unexcused absences should be avoided, as they may lead to a referral to the Board of Directors for further consideration, which could include removal from the program.

Yes, each participant is paired with a mentor for a full calendar year once the match is made.

The deadline to submit your application is October 31st.

"Thanks to LLI I felt like I came back to life. I started to believe in myself again. I remembered how much passion I have for so many things such as reading, learning and that I have always been thirsty for learning more and have been very curious. “We are a new generation of Latinas who are proud in using our voice and unapologetic in exercising our power. We are proud of our heritage, where we come from, and are not afraid to continue to blaze a trail that has been set by our predecessors. We bring value to our community by being our authentic selves and staying true to who we are.”
